Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG or LGG® is a strain of L. rhamnosus that was discovered by Sherwood Gorbach and Barry Goldin in 1983.
According to Gorbach and Goldin's research, LGG® tolerates the acid conditions in the stomach, the bile acids in the small intestine, colonizes the digestive tract and balances the the 'good' and 'bad' bacteria in the digestive system.
Vaalia yoghurt, available in low fat, lactose free and full-cream (for children) in a variety of flavours is the only food source of LGG® currently available in Australia.
