Spirit

It can sometimes be easy to forget about how you feel in the rush of everyday life.

Make sure that you take time to do things that make your spirit soar.

Snuggle up with a good book, make a batch of cupcakes, spend quality time with your partner, friends and children or volunteer for a local charity.

Make the time to do the things that make you feel happy and fulfilled - they are not an indulgence!

Doona days

Every now and then, give yourself a long sleep in followed by a lazy day. Stock the fridge with some tasty brunch treats, have a pile of your favourite magazines and books at hand and rent out some DVD’s. Spend the day in your pyjamas watching movies, reading or just relaxing.

Give a helping hand

Helping others is a great way to help boost your spirits. Volunteer some of your time to work for a charity, hold a fundraising event at work or at home, or just take over some home-made soup or treats to a friend who has been under the weather. You’d be surprised how much of a difference the little things can make to others.

Romance

Find time in the hectic rush to spend quality time with your partner. Book in a regular ‘date night’, have brunch on the weekend or send each other romantic text messages and emails.

Playtime

Learn how to play again. Many mums are so busy keeping the family running smoothly that they forget to make time to stop and play with their kids. While it is a cliché, it is true that children grow up very quickly, so you don’t want to miss a minute! Spend time painting, colouring or playing sports with your kids, play board games instead of watching TV or build a cubby house together. As they grow up and leave the nest you’ll be glad you took the time to enjoy playing together.

Friends

Our friends are the people that are there when times are hard and also help us celebrate the joys in life. But it is easy to lose touch or to take our friends for granted. Make the time to talk on the phone, email and catch-up whenever you can.
